Supportive Care
We provide emotional support for those grieving the loss of a loved one.
We are very excited to offer a brand-new program here at Anthony House. Supportive Care Ministries exist to come alongside the residents and their families, both before and after the resident passes. Supportive Care Ministries is a group of dedicated, trained, and caring individuals who will meet with those in the grieving process. This is where the hurting person can sit down one on one with someone who will listen to them and help them through this tough time.
This service is a supplement to the great work that Anthony House will be doing in Oswego County. I think that the core values of Anthony House say it all: dignity, Respect, Compassion, and Integrity. The Supportive Care Ministries Team was created to allow us to extend these core values to those left behind when a loved one passes. Anthony House was based on one singular goal, to care for the hurting. That’s why the vision of the Supportive Care Ministry is “to be a lasting support for those needing emotional care."

The program is designed to match trained volunteers with those coming to Anthony House so that everyone in need has someone with whom they can connect with. All volunteers in the Supportive Care Ministries Team undergo extensive training in how to walk through this time in someone’s life. This reaches beyond the stock “They’re in a better place” statements that you might get from casual friends and gives you a comfortable place to allow yourself to open up and talk through the wide range of emotions that you might be feeling. How long and how often they meet with your Supportive Care Minister is totally up to them. It could range from a couple of months to a few years depending on the needs of the care receiver.
This is a new program here at Anthony House, and we need additional volunteers that want to join us in this fulfilling ministry. We are holding training sessions starting in April for those that are interested. If you have any questions or would like more information, just email us at info@anthonyhouseoswego.org. We will get back to you to answer any questions that you might have. We look forward to talking to you.
“To be a lasting support for those needing emotional care."
